I’m sorry but wouldn’t you think these folks might have been smarter than this? Now the whole building has collapsed.

The warehouse that collapsed belongs to the Barton distilleries. If anybody has ever had "Very Old Barton" then you would realize that this was no great loss.
Mrs. BF asked this morning when we heard that the second half of the warehouse collapsed, why they hadn't moved all those barrels of bourbon before the collapse. I said you have an unstable building filled with barrels that weigh over 400 pounds each. Trying to move the barrels would have brought the building down. Why risk lives for cheap whiskey. They already had a retention dam up to keep the whiskey out of the river from the first collapse.

Not easy or cheap keeping all you yankees and wankers drunk.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

So in other words, the greatest tragedy, (which just ended) was the wanton waste of oak barrels that could have utilized productively?

That depends on how the clean up goes.

This is true, but in many parts of Kentucky, they are called bootleggers.
