Gentlemen,

It looks like I will be doing a follow-up article on High End Tactical Scopes.  Most of them should be on their way to me this week and I am still trying to secure a couple more.

I will be structuring this review a little bit differently this time around since the configurations I am assembling make for a better apples-to-apples comparison.

I will post the details once I have all of the scopes in my hands.

ILya

Just a quick update:

I am in the middle of working on the "High End Tactical: Part II" article which includes the following scopes (all FFP models):
Hensoldt 4-16x56
Premier 3-15x50
S&B 4-16x50
IOR 3.5-18x50
Nightforce F1 3.5-15x50
USO 3.2-17x44
Leupold 4.5-14x50

Now, it looks like I will be able to get my hands onto the first FFP March scope in the country in time to include it in the article.  It is not 100% yet, but I am working on it.

Gentlemen, I finally put the "Part II" onto my website.

It is a little raw and needs a fair amount of editing, but I need to detach myself from it for a bit before I get back to it.  The bloody thing is LOOOOOOONG.  Let's see how many of you I can put to sleep...

I also added a Blog and Q&A section to my website, so that I can note site updates and newly published article there:

Good read, ILya.  I like the way you broke it down.  Now I just have to figure out how to get one of each... or two...

Great review. I just finished reading it and am very impressed with the effort you made and the thoroughness of the article. That's one of the most informative pieces on optics I've ever seen.

Thank You, gentlemen.

I put a lot of time and effort into this and it is nice to not get flamed too much for it.  There is still some stuff in my notes that has not made it into the write-up yet.  I'll add them in as I go along.

ILya

Well, thank goodness you took the CounterSniper out of the mix just in time.

Anybody that would have a serious problem with that review would likely have to much emotional investment in their particular uber optic.

I got the notification last night and only had my iPhone handy but could not wait to read it so I attempted it but had to abort after 10 minutes.

Read it first thing this morning and would like to thank ILya for taking what must have been an enormous amount of time and effort to do this.  It was very well written and presented but we all knew it would be.

This should help anyone in the market for one of these scopes make an educated decision on which one would work best for them.  I can see this review being referenced for years to come.

Can't wait for the next ones.  Yippee

Thanks, Chris.

I have been focusing on these scope so intently for the last few weeks, that if I close my eyes I see an endless procession of reticles that got imprinted in the cornea of my eye.

Great review.  I agree with almost everything.

You mention that an ergo USO would be a better arrangement in some cases.  I have used the ergo and it is way, way far out there in front, easy for bench shooting, not best for tactical shooting - in my opinion.  The ergo is a little more forgiving than the tpal.

I just finished a 4-day hunt with my Hensoldt 3-12 and it is still my favorite scope, image quality is fantastic and eye box is so forgiving it almost takes effort to get a bad sight picture.

Great review.

I might need to consider a March, if it stacks up that well to hensoldt and premier.  Damn, then I'll need a rifle to put it on.
