I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for hard work in this comparison. I have been spending lots of time reading reviews on a very specific scope as it seemed to be the best fit for my needs. Today, I came across this post and gave it a read. Well..... The scope I had in mind came in #1, thus solidifying my decision. Went to Cabelas after work and my Vortex Diamondback BDC now sits proudly on my Ruger American. Thanks again!

I wish i was aware of this forum sooner,i really like the evaluation process and head to head unbiases opinions, btw thos is my first post on this forum and i see this is a six year old thread but it still is very relevant to me and the scopes i was lookibg at im this price range.
For the longest time i was smitten and dead set on getting the mikon prostaff in 4×12 with the bdc and the spot on Ballistic program and readin all the advertisements claiming 98% light transmission, well i wanted it. So after selling, borrowing and saving my pennies I went to the lgs and askes to see the Nikon 4x12 prostaff 4x12 and i was still very impressed with it ,abouy that time the salesman askes if i ever lookes theougj a Vortex i told i had and i wasnt impressed with the Diamondback. He then told about the newer hp model,i couldnt believe what i was looking through,i though i was looking through a viper .So i then askes the sales man to being all scopes he had in that category/price range from the Leopould VX2 ,Burris ffII ,Bushnell elite 4200,Redfield and even up to the Nikon Prostaff 5 and spent about an hour doing informal teating and comparisons. What surprised me is the Nikons looked brighte especially the yellows, but the Hp was much clearer and defined around th edges and had a lot wider field of vision and things in the upper rafyers of the far dark end of the store could be made out better. So here iam now with the Viper diamondback hp 4x16 mounted on my Remington 700 classuc in .300 Weatherby and i dont think i could be happier and i really like the reviews on this forum .

Good choice and welcome to the OT.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.
