OK we have seen the drone fishing video. Now what about drone hunting?

I heard that some guys were using a drone to locate their target animal and then plan their stalk and kill from the footage obtained. Now we all know how frustrating it can be to hunt in thick scrub or forest with no idea as to where the animals are. A hunter can hunt for 2 0r 3 days and never even spot the animal. Now how cool would it be to sit at the campfire and let the drone do the walking!!!

Or is it uncool??

Wouter I'm not a trophy hunter but hunt for the fun of it and hopefully some meat if I get lucky.  Have had more than my share of hunts where no game was brought home but it was still enjoyable being in the field.  I hope our enjoyment of the hunt is not defined by winning every time.

On a strictly personal level I don't like the idea of using a drone, but then I've never paid thousands of dollars for a guided trophy hunt within defined time constraints.

When I think of how it would save me so much of the pain I experience after a simple hunt it has a lot of appeal. But, When you consider how it will be exploited by the thousands of irresponsible young and old "takers at any cost" so called hunters out there. I would rather it be banned altogether. If it is not addressed before it really takes off. True "trophy" animals of every species will disappear almost over night.

Our constant press for "better/ easier" it gonna cost us big time. And sooner than later...........

Take care of Soldiers, Show em how its done and do it with em, Run to the Fight & and hold your ground! I die my men go home! If you're a NCO and this ain't you. GET OUT! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I'd have to agree with Sarge!  If they ever open the door to drone spotting all hte tropgies would quickly disappear!!!!!

I LOVE technology, but agree that hunting via drone is outside the bounds of common decency.  Can't see it being ethical.

It's illegal here in Kali... use of radios to herd or pursue game is illegal here as well.

“No person shall pursue, drive, herd, or take any bird or mammal from any type of motor-driven air or land vehicles, motorboat, airboat, sailboat, or snowmobile. Additionally, no person shall use any motorized, hot-air, or unpowered aircraft or other device capable of flight or any earth orbiting imaging device to locate or assist in locating big game mammals beginning 48 hours before and continuing until 48 hours after any big game hunting season in the same area” (California Code of Regulations Title 14, section 251(a)).

Ooooo, you mean hunting with drones - not for drones...

Well, that changes my answer.

I absolutely think we should have a open season on drones.  Kickboxer has the solution :  CRAM

Now if you want cool wildlife photos I can see how that might be fun, but we've already seen videos of drones armed with a Glock pistol so that is a lot like hunting from a helicopter, not that anyone in South Texas would do that. ( I guess for hogs it doesn't count, you might get to do it for hogs.)  But, I still think bow hunting is fun, and there are plenty of nice deer that I have seen but not gotten close enough to to take with a bow.

I left it as an open question. My own views are also a strong NO!!

I must say that I would not mind that on the last hour of the hunt WITH ALL RIFLES PACKED AWAY, that a drone can show me where these %$# kudus were hiding the past three days!!!!

I think drones could be useful for population surveys but I don't think they should be used for hunting.

And what will we take from November? To some of us, the pheasants will seem smarter, the quail and grouse faster, the ducks a little higher than we remember. It is not important that we do especially well; it is important only that we went.

Our greatest trophies are not things, but times.

I started on a rant yesterday, but decided to just shut up for a change.

On hunting drones: Yes, but only if it's watching you.
On hunting with drones: No, if I can't put guns on my aircraft, then you can't put guns on your drone.
On using drones to assist in hunting: Absolutely NOT, if your too lazy to go out and do the work required to hunt the game, then your too lazy to show the animal the proper respect that the animal and nature deserves. If you don't respect the animal and it's environment, then you don't need to be hunting.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.
