I recently bought a Ruger #1 in Stainless Steel, laminated stock, .204 Ruger caliber. It shore is purty and I don't want to spoil the looks with a black/matte scope. Unfortunately I have not had much success in locating a scope in silver that meets my desires:

- since it will be shot mostly from a bench on targets and small furry creatues I wanted at least 20 power (some local contests shoot eggs out to 200 yards)

- objective size of 40 to 44mm

- 1" tube

- significant eye relief (obviously not concerned about recoil, but the rings mount quite far foward)

- doesn't cost more than the rifle

I did see Weaver has something in their Grand Slam (6-20 X 40 for ~ $350) and their T-series that appears to be fixed 32X for about a hundred more

Thanks for any help that can be provided!

Leupold makes a 6.5-20x40mm Long Range scope in silver finish. It has a 30mm tube but is still not a heavy or really long scope compared to others in this magnification range.

The Grand Slam would be perfect.

- Very nice optics

- Silver finish

- Enough power to zoom in on those eggs

- A lot of scope for the money.

The T series are for one purpose only. Get a variable so you can do everything.

Thanks for all the input guys! I ended up purchasing the Sightron 6-24 X 42ST. While I've mounted it I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet. It appears to met all my requirements to this point.

Sightron is a good choice, nice scope for a reasonable price.

nuke, jsut wondering why you went with such a high power scope?? when i go to egg shoots, we shoot at 500 yards, and i only use a SS10X42, i dont see why you would need a scope that high power at 200 yards, unless you like the be righ tup on top of those eggs.
