Looking to compare some 2-8 scopes. They are Weaver Grand Slam 2-8x36, Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8x36 and the Nikon Monarch 3 2-8x32. Any thoughts and comments are always greatly appreciated.

I’ve had the VX3 for years and like it for a light weight hunting scope.

i love 2-8x32 scopes and i think that they have many advantages, if the optics and all else is right.
To begin with, a scope of that size is small and light and does not change too much the balance of a rifle and does not look like a 2 gallon pickle jar on top of a fine rifle.
I have two such scopes: the Zeiss Conquest 2-8x32 which is amazing and my favorite scope. And the Nikon Monarch 3 2-8x32 which i also think that is excellent.
Mechanically and optically they are very good scopes. When i go hunting with them i never miss and do not wish that i had a bigger or fancier scope.
If you get a Nikon just get the Nikoplex reticle.

You can get a new Swaro Z3 3-9x36 for $700, sometimes less.  They are outstanding scopes.

Great recommendation! Right up there with the Kahles in quality and optics at a great price for a model still currently being manufactured too with the added bonus of SONA support.  Thumbs Up

Vortex Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32.  It is on sale right now for $500.

That is as good a deal as you will find right around now.

 anweis,
I too think smaller and lighter scopes have their place and can make a rifle look nice.

I would like to thank everyone who responded. I must admit that I purchased a Leupold VX-2 at a great close out price.

 Koshkin,
Thank you very much for the link. I just got off the phone with Brett at SWFA. He checked and found one left in stock. It is being shipped out as I write this message. Since I purchased the last one I was informed that the next shipment will be in two months. Thanks again Koshkin. By the way everyone the Leupold is still wrapped up in the box. I will be keeping it as a backup or maybe my nephew will want it.

I know this has been brought up before, but I make an excellent nephew if you ever feel like setting up some rifles for someone who actually appreciates it....

On a more serious note, let me know how you like the HD LH.  My 1.5-8x32 HD LH lives on a 458 SOCOM AR and seems to be very appropriate there.

 Koshkin,
I will let you know when I receive it. I am sure that I will like it, as I do its bigger brother. I just don't remember seeing it when I ordered the 3-15x42. Again thank you very much because that was just too good of a deal to pass up. I will keep you in mind for adoption.
Charles

In the event you find Koshkin to be an unsuitable nephew, I wish to tender my application for nephewdom, Charles.

I have the Nikon Monarch 2-8x32 with BDC and would highly recommend it. If I had to dig for any cons, it would be the weight (not heavy by any means, but there are lighter options) and the absence of a mil/mil - turret/reticle option. With the BDC, it's a non-issue as I just use the holdovers, but I would have preferred mil turrets with a mildot reticle if it were available. I have several other scopes in the Monarch line and have been pleased with all of them.

I have no personal experience with any of the other options listed but have read/heard many good things about several of them.
