My BIL and I were shooting over the weekend.  His Rem 870 Magnum shotgun (short bbl w/composite stock) shooting 2 3/4" 00 buchshot loads kicked alot more than my 9.3.  In fact my neck is still hurting from that shotgun(D'd DUMB move on my part!!!!).  What's the hardest recoiling rifle you've shot?  If I had to compare my 9.3 to something I would say it's about like a max loaded 180gr in a .30-06.

I shoot 3" magnum 00 buck in my shotgun, no its not good on the herniations in my neck but I can handle it.....The largest rifle was when I was in my 20's a 300 Weatherby Mag. I would rather shoot the shotgun anyday.... Im a piss poor shot with a large rifle, I mean I can kill an Elk at 150 yards with the 300 cause I have. But I prefer as small a rifle as possible, like a 270 or 7mm-08 is great for me.. Thats why I like the Swede 6.5x55, Ive shot em and that Swede will Kill anything I need to around here....Its basicallt the same as a 260 caliber only the 260 mfg. loads are gonna be more peppy than a Swede..........
The 9.3 Sounds fun to me Earl!!!Big Grin

shooting my .375H&H with 270gr bullets isnt any worse than a 12 ga.

I can believe that.  Magnum shotgun loads with slugs and buckshot are brutal.

The stock on my 9.3 has a high combed Fagen stock(resembles a Weatherby)which helps control jump from recoil.  My BIL really liked shooting it.  And of course like everyone else who has looked through it. He liked that C3 reticle.  First shot with it while sitting on the edge of the deck w/no rest he hit a water filled margarine bowl at about 40 yards.
What velocity are running those 270gr bullets at?  I'm getting ready to work a load up using 270gr Speer's.

I'm hoping to try mine on a black bear (only killed water jugs so far) this yr.  I'm sure I can get on one with dogs but don't really want to go that route.

really? i thought that was about the only way a person could hunt bears. without baiting in minnesota it would be almost impossible to see a bear.

Morning Everybody happy Friday!!!

This morning we had the 1st fog of the year!  It was pretty thick too.
We are celebrating Black & Decker's 100th Anniversary this afternoon here.
It's a damn shame that the dirtball CEO and board sold us out just 8 months short!
