Umphf!  I'm  almost 3 weeks into my retirement and the best I've  been able  to  manage is about a half hour shift it my sleep period.  Now instead of 4 am it's 4:30.  I managed  to roll over for another 30 minutes today but it  just aggregated my back, as usual.  I'd be happy if I can get my wake up to 7 am.  I realized my usaul pattern is up quickly, start  coffee, straight into shower then groom and dress.  Make my travel mug then hit the door.  It pretty much sets my tone.  Set my tone rather.  I'm finding that a leisurely start to the day sets a different tone, one that is putting me into goof off mode.  A later wake up will help with this or resigning myself to am housework and other inside work until it's light and warm  enough for outside work.  Any which way this is proving harder than expected.  I have to wonder, how Kickboxer seems to have successfully and effortlessly transitioned into retirement.  I know Dan slept very little and eat like a mouse when on 'mission' he is quite obviously much more disapplended than I.  Hippie

Mornin’ all, great weekend. Now we are looking at a few days of rain.

I’m going back to work after 2 months off.

Mornin gentsCoffee

It's raining and it's Monday. Very depressing.

Friday night we had a heavy rain, as well as Saturday afternoon. I didn't realize how much rain we had until Mrs BF and I went to visit friends Saturday evening. My driveway took a pretty heavy hit. I spent Sunday cleaning out culverts and the ditch, and grading and repairing the drive getting it ready for more rock. Only if my drive will survive the rain over the next few days.

Bud, I have a friend that is still on his daily work schedule, and he's been retired around 20 years. He's at KCR at 0700hrs and leaves at 0930. We've tried but he will not change his habits. I also have another friend who has been retired for about 16 years and he is almost as bad. Up early, in bed early and has a basic routine. Don't ask him to change it.
Do what you want. It's your choice.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Is it Monday?    My son called late Thursday inviting me fishing on the Bay Friday 6:30 am . Upper Chesapeake NE of Love Point was our destination.  Anchored up about 10 am.  Fished till 1 pm, boated 9 Cat fish.  Smallest Cat was over 3 pounds, the largest about 12.  We kept them in the livewell till we got back to home base.  Most were still alive, 3 were thrown into a small pond next to he's driveway.  That made 5-7 cats in this tiny oak shaded pond, all over 3 pounds.  Fred said he was feeding them twice a week.  Pretty cool!!! About 40 pounds of live catfish closer than then mail box!

We fillet up the rest to deep fry....    Later that night  I get a email from my to to be at his house at 3:30 pm for Crabs & Catfish.  Sorry to say the crabs were lousy... and expensive!!! The Deepfried catfish cubes were quite enjoyable, I devoured several...

That got me to Sunday and rain....

Mornin gentsCoffee

Tuesday Is Tough Stuff. Overcast, 70% chance of rain, and temps in the 50's to 60's range.

Anybody in the house?

Speaking of timber; I've found 6 walnut saplings on my place in the last year. Accidentally hit one with the loader on the tractor Sunday, then realized it was a walnut. Fortunately I didn't hurt it.

Well folks,

Got the diagonal braces on the work bench this afternoon. A quick sand and then some polyurethane varnish tomorrow and we are done.

Dissapointed with the 1 1/2 x 2" timber I bought for braces though. This truly applies:

Supposed to be planed all round softwood. Is bent to hell and when you drill into it for pilot holes, drill bit comes out like it is glazed there is that much sap in it...

Still, has come together OK and will hopefully post pictures tomorrow.
