i don't have any experience with a ffp reticle, but i'd like to get one for a 338 win mag carry gun. i'm leaning towards the SS 3-15 with a ffp because a 338 winny is a fairly hard kicking cartridge and i'll be shooting any range to 1k. can shots be made on deer size animals inside a 100 yards when there isn't much light using this non-illuminated reticle?

yes absolutely
I do like the 3-9 better than the 3-15 because I prefer the single screw re-set for the knobs over the 3 hex screw system.
