What are those scopes used for ? I no longer see them on Leupold's site.

They are a tactical scope used for either long range target work or designated marksman use for military.  16 x  in a fixed power is too much power for police type use where the average target is about 80 yds.  the M1 knobs should be 1/4 moa per click.   For military when the distance is greater the 16 x can be useful. It's not a great choice for a hunting scope either unless everything is at least 200 yds away or further. For a range optic in bright daylight it can be highly desirable.  P.S. you can have a Super Sniper 16x42 for a lot less and it does about the same thing.
