I picked up the Z5 5-25x52 with the BT 4W reticle from another forum member.  Definite impulse buy but price was hard to pass up.

Magnification range would put it as a good scope for a long range hunter, but adjustment range of the BT and 4W reticle limit its usefulness inside of of 500 yards.  Max adjustment on the elevation is 43 clicks or 25 MOA, which will get you out to 475 yards with a 168gr 308 Win according to their ballistics calculator.

4W reticle is an exceptional hunting reticle but lacks discrete holdover points on the reticle itself short of the 10 MOA distance between the crosshairs and the thick vertical stadia.

Seems odd the Swarovski wouldn't offer the BT combination with other reticles besides their plex and 4W reticle.  Something like their BRH or BRX would have been nice to extend the range and take advantage of the higher magnification range.

Lot of glass for that limited range but still an exceptional scope for a hunting rifle.  It might fit nicely on a varmint rifle for small targets inside of 500 yards. as well.

So where do you see the sweet spot for this scope?

I'm thinking 220 Swift, 22-250 or 224 Weatherby would be a good fit for this scope.  Well within the max adjustments but can take advantage of the higher magnification.

5X low end magnification range isn't a deal killer on any hunting rifle, but not ideal either.
