I agree, Ric. Sports is a momentary diversion from a lot of very bad news.

On the "pay vs. scholarship" deal, I don't like the idea of paying college athletes AT ALL, but I'd be all in favor of revoking full ride scholarships and room & board in exchange. That'll get their attention REAL QUICKLY! As the father of a high school senior who will be headed to college next year, I'm well aware of what it costs to put a kid through college today! Any kid who doesn't appreciate the tremendous benefit they're receiving for a full ride college scholarship and the wonderful gift they've been blessed with to play sports at a high level needs to be booted out on his arse and try to make a living without the springboard college is providing them to be able to live the American dream!

Ole Miss goes into Baton Rogue to play LSU tonight. This will be a good game, I believe.

U of Miss - 24
LSU - 27

Playing in "Death Valley" at night is a TOUGH deal.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Well, at least one of Mississippi's teams won. The Mad Hatter pulled out another 4th quarter win. My Gators did not loose... ha ha.

I had the point spread right, just not the score. I think the LSU fans got under Bo's skin last night. I heard the commentators state that he was trash talking the fans during the game. Bo looked horrible in the 4th quarter.

I would NEVER bet against The Hat at Death Valley, under the lights. I don't care who the opponent was.

In contrast to that game, have you guys ever seen scores as high as they've been overall this year?

Exhibit A: TCU hung 82 points on Texas Tech last night!

No kidding.

Oregon - 59
Cal. - 41

Zona - 59
Wash. State - 37

Kent State - 66
Old Dominion - 51

TONS more too. G Tech hung put 56 on Pitt.

Sounds like there's some teams that could use a good defensive coordinator.

Hey...here's one who may be available hopefully SOON.

Oh man...I'm already dreading this weekend in Jax. I can see it now....

Gurley gets reinstated....runs for a gazillion yards...4 TDs....becomes Heisman front runner again!
Chubb gets a 100 yards.....Mason bombs the gassed Gators DB's.....Gator "O" is blanked....

I agree Mark. Luckily, I'll be packing for our trip (leaving Sunday) so I'll miss most of the slaughter.

As an aside, Rich Rod's name has been mentioned often here... just sayin'.

Yep, I'm seeing that too. Michigan was a flop for him, but I think there were unseen forces at work to undermine him there. Or so I heard.

Man, I watched Mississippi State play Saturday and was FLAT IMPRESSED! They are a great team and no doubt deserve to be numero uno. Prescott is a STUD! I'm not sure he didn't get nicked up Saturday at Kentucky, so that could play into the season.

But...there's no way in my mind they make it through the rest of the season unscathed.
They still have a gauntlet to get through.

Remaining tough games are Arkansas, at Bama and at The Sip. Arkansas WILL upset someones apple cart this year, it's only a matter of who it will be.

Pig sooie!

Just from what I've seen, I think the two Heisman candidates should be Dak Prescott and that Ameer dude, RB for Nebraska.

I haven't seen a lot of Ameer Abdullah, but I've seen his high light reels....Jeepers!

Mariota over at Oregon looked super the other night, as well. Of course...(cough..cough)...that RB from Georgia...whatever his name is looks "OK", I guess.

Nah, he throws too well to be a Tebow clone.  What I heard was runs like Tebow throws like Prescott.

It's not the size of the campfire; it's the quality of the company.

He's a very good football player, a smart QB, and he'll be playing on Sundays.

Ted and I have been texting back and forth today about what 4 teams will be selected by the college football selection committee tonight.

Sip State
Flo State...(yuk)
But the next two are pretty tough to pick. Ted and I have Bammers in the 3 spot, but who do YOU think should be 3 and 4? There's a TON of really, really good 1 loss teams out there.

Georgia, Auburn, TCU, Oregon, Michigan State, Notre Dame Zona, Zona State, and yep, even The Sip has only 1 loss, on the road, and lost by 3. Ole Miss is still a very good team.
You know, Baylor has one loss, but dang it, they haven't really played any top teams yet. West Virginee put a lick on them in Morgantown.

Ohio State is a one loss team and seems to have turned it around after losing to V Tech too.

I just understand this "new" playoff system, but it's a start, I guess. One thing is for sure...it's too early to pick anybody and there's a LOT of football left to play.

The Ducks look good and they have a great QB... that's a recipe for success.

I'm also thinking Georgia possibly. Lets see after Saturday.

Wow, Auburn and Ole Miss in the 3rd and 4th spots...didn't see that coming, based on the timing of their losses and what effect later losses, especially to lower ranked teams (MS vs LSU) has traditionally had on rankings. Is there any doubt the committee believes the SEC West to be the toughest conf division in college football?
