Thanks to SWFA for a great forum.  I have been researching a low budget scope for a flat top AR that I have.  It will mostly be used for paper punching (300 yards max) and maybe some coyote hunting if I can find someone to take me.  I am looking at the Team Primos 3-9x40 and the Bushnell 3200 3-9X40.

From what I understand, the Primos probably has better glass, but how much I don't know.  The BDC reticle on the Primos doesn't thrill me, but neither does the thick plex reticle on the Bushnell.  The Bushnell has rainguard, which is a plus for it.  Both are $199 at SWFA.

Ignoring the free camo jacketExcellent, which would you suggest as the better bang for your buck?

I like the team primos.  I bought one for my 270 win and couldn't be happier.  I just had to get used to the BDC reticle.

I had thought about that, and may still do it if funds become available, but for the sake of argument let's stick to the two scopes mentioned.  Which do you prefer?

The Team Primos is a pretty nice scope and should be a bit better for low light but both are nice scopes.

I would take the 3200 if it is used for hunting because of the durability and rainguard coating which is a plus when hunting in wet conditions. The Nikon Primos may have an edge for low light over the 3200 but feel the elite scopes are built to take more abuse in the field.

I have several Nikons and 3200's and would  have to echo Randall45's comments ..3200 by a nose , and only because I have dealt with Nikon's customer service and I'd rather go to the dentist for a root canal twice without novacaine than to deal with them again.

I Believe the optics are alittle better on the Nikon, but I don't care for the BDC.  The bushnell has rain guard which I like, but in the end I'd also save alittle more and get the 4200 as mentioned above.

I'd go for the nikon primos just because of the brighter optics, but if it was a 4200, then i'd go for the 4200.

Thanks for all the input guys.  SWFA dropped the price on the 4200, so I think I'm going to go with it.  The 3200 also had a price drop, and it is ridiculously cheap now, but I'm going to squeeze the 4200 into the budget.  I hope it is worth the $80 difference.

Great deal on a great scope, I think you'll enjoy it.
