Hey guys im wanting to go ahead and put in an order for a Vortex Viper 6.5-20 but i cant decide weither or not to get the 44 or 50 mm is it worth the extra money its going on a remington 700 sps 223 and will mostly be used for competitive shooting and some varmit hunting

I would probably go with the 44 myself.  Mount it lower to get a better cheek weld.  If you are going to use it at night or low light then you might want the 50 mm.

I recently purchased the Viper 6.5-20x50,excellent scope for the money.In the past when I think I'm going to need extra light gathering I have gone to the 50x,I don't beleive there is much difference between 44x to 50x .Is the extra money worth it ?I think that depends on what time of the day you will be using the scope.I'm sure others with more knowledge than I will chime in with extra help!

if you are planning on spending a lot of time in low light on 20x i would get the 50mm, otherwise stick with the 44.
