Looking for some real world experience here.

The long and short of it is that Zeiss has an instant rebate in place (in Canada anyways) for $150 on the V4, $300 on V6, and $350 on the Victory V8 scopes.

I'm tempted by the V4 4-16×44 at this price, (which comes to exactly $100 more than a Swarovski Z3 4-12×50 with turrets as a reference) and am just curious what the prevailing opinion is on these scopes.

My impressions, they are made in Japan, eye relief feels about 3.5 inches or so, not crazy good, but the eyebox confort is decent. I compared to a Conquest DL 3-12 in the shop, which turned out to be possible the worst $1k plus scope I've ever looked through imho, fish eye effect in the lower power range and very finicky and blurry edges. I also looked through a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18×44 as a comparable, and frankly, the usable field of view was a bit more on 4× in the V4 vs 3.5× in the Z5.

Hard to evaluate a scope in a shop to say the least, but field of view was decent, and clear, eye relief was acceptable though not over generous, and the scope had a bright image with too much dark spotting effect with eye movement. In other words, the eyebox seems nice.

I'm not exactly in need of a scope, but it's a good price, provided these scopes are percieved as a good value on the market and hold their value well....always leary of deal when a scope has been on the market less than a year, as it could indicate a market correction and poor resale.

Hmm....need to proofread before I post.

I guess nobody here has dabbled with the new Zeiss V4. I did play with one at Cabelas yesterday afternoon as well and still liked the eyebox and apparent build quality, fit and finish, etc.

I'm having doubts before jumping in, I'm thinking of this as a medium to long range scope for my 6.5 creedmoor which may see the field, but probably mostly for open field coyote hunting.

It's main appeal is a nice and simple exposed elevation turret and hopefully being easy to get behind.

Nobody has even I barely supported hot take on this scope?

I'm wondering, are these new Zeiss that poorly thought of? Or have nonr of you had to chance to look at one of these and handle one...

I decided to look again...selection in store isn't great for comparables, but the 3-18×50 V6 blows it away to such an extent that I'm gonna have to think about it for a bit.

I'm a hunting scope guy, but want to shoot at 800m more since my range has the capability....are there other crossover scopes out there that aren't too tactical oriented that I should look at?

I don't currently own a scope over 10x top magnification, so I don't even have anything to compare with this, but I think I'll take a scope I know in and compare.
